(Elizabeth-Louise Vigee Le Brun, 1755-1842, one of the few female members of the Academie Royale de Peinture et de Sculpture, was a favorite of Marie Antoinette and highly successful in her portraits of the nobility. During the French Revolution she lived and worked in Italy, Austria and Russia, winning awards and honors in each place. She was repatriated during the reign of Emperor Napoleon I but continued to work throughout Europe including England. She completed more that 600 portraits and 200 landscapes.) Price:
